I just dropped off the box to my friend. I'm ordering the billet case from Alfaholics. I think the oil level was pretty low. He will put it together for me.

Good question!
For the 2L GTV Burman box the hand book says, 'Check the level of steering box oil and top up if necessary at 7500mls or 12000km, then again at 11,250mls or 18,000km' and there after every 3750 mls or 6,000km and this was the car was new!
Oil to use: Classification SAE 90 API EP, AGIP F1 Rotra Hypoid SAE 90, SHELL Spirax 90 EP

Cracked steering box

Understood. I suggest to install the reinforcement plate, new balls and the correct oil (not grease). Check the right and left stoppers also.
