Good .. I'd report it to E-bay..as I said this car isn't part of the New England scene unless it was moth-balled..

You have to get up early in the morning and stay up late at night to beat scammers.. This car looks like it was photographed in NH.. How do I know? The inspection sticker in the center of the windshield ( "4") appears to be NH and the slim white birches deciduous to the area in the photos...If this is your car, it might have had a history in NH before you bought it. Notice there are no pics of the odometer and no reference to a VIN number. BTW New Hampshire is a lovely place. Even the season is correct in the photos.

I reported this listing to eBay. It seems that the main thing they are concerned about is people trying to circumvent paying listing or seller fees...

Yes, I would like to think that eBay is working behind the scenes to 'catch the con' but I strongly suspect that is not the case. Their 'report a listing' form does not really give you many options to say that "hey this car sale is a scam, the owner lives in California and has the car in his garage and oh, by the way here is a link to his comments about the car, its location, S/N, etc..."

My car was much publicised before I got it and car has been the subject of a few such fake sales efforts.

I finally called Ebay and its taken down..But apparently this type of scammer can just get a new email and phone number to start an all new account too. So easy, then they buy some $2 stickers or candy to get some positive reviews and then comes the scam..

Jake,

You are right, it is Baaackk!

https://www.ebay.com/itm/1972-Alfa-R...19.m1438.l2649

I'll report the car to eBay, again but I suspect they would be more reactive if you click on the comment that the seller is "trying to sell outside of eBay".

Mark

the serious possibility in Germany: you can go to file a criminal complaint at police office as the owner of advertised car. They pass it to economic criminal Inspector's who clear it quite quick and check the truth that the car is yours with papers, check the car and plate a.s.o. If all of your report is correct it goes the way to next court and the advertiser get a chargeable warning by much money to stopp today and in future to use your car dates and pix. This cost nothing for you when he stops for ever. If not - a court will show him the border line quick with a high penalty, and - he must pay all now...
