1973 Spider Veloce

SOLD

I have a 1973 Spider for sale. It is rust free and drives very well. It has been well-maintained, extensively refurbished, and includes some history and documentation. It is advertised on CL and Hemmings for $11,500, but I really want it to go to an enthusiast that will care for it and take it to the next level...so...I am offering here at $10,500.
Below is a link to CL & Hemmings.

This is a really good car. I got the opportunity to thoroughly check it out and test drive it last weekend and I was impressed by the level of condition, particularly of the body, which is basically rust free! The interior needs a couple mats stitched, but the car runs and drives just as a 105 should, the engine is strong, the gearbox works very well, and the new clutch hydraulics are functioning well. Feel free to pm me if you have any other third party questions. The car was up on a lift at first so I was able to thoroughly inspect the bottom.

Can you elaborate on "basically rust free"?

Hello new to the sight. Looks to be in great shape. What was the official name of the cars exterior paint?
Thanks-Chuck

It's rust free. I never want to say 100% on an old Alfa because there could be some surface rust somewhere hiding. The spring pans are rock solid, as are the jacking points, the floors, the front panels, the fenders, the windshield surround, etc. About the only place I didn't look was inside the spare tire well but I have no doubt that's in good shape as well. There were some repairs done to the floors but they look to be of good quality.

I agree with Jonathan. I never say fully rust free 'cause it is a 40+ yr old car and the refurbishment was done 10 years ago, so there could be a little something somewhere and I don't want to misrepresent. BTW, the spare tire well and entire inside of trunk, and rear suspension areas are rust free. There was an intermittent whine when Jonathan drove it the other day which was solved today with a new fan belt. I had to move the old one when I replaced the tach cable a few weeks ago and it was on its last legs.

Chuck-I will look up the paint code tomorrow.

Chuck- Sorry for the delay. The ID plates are faded and I can't read the paint code. I did some research and I am fairly sure it is Ivory. I will let you know if I get an update.

Why no sale? Was it the car or the buyer to blame?

Buyer and I had several conversations, many pics and a conversation with alfisti164l. Texted me at night that he wanted the car and to call. The next morning he had decided he couldn't maintain a 70's Alfa.... Seemed like a sincere guy and enthusiastic. Maybe he came to a realization or something unforeseen happened?
It's a good car and a very good driver Alfa. Maybe I'll sell my Bugeye Sprite or 911 and keep it. We'll see.

If it as good as it sounds I would display it at Tutto Italiano at Lars Anderson Museum in Brookline this Sunday... They don't have any issues with For Sale signs on your car ..It's a tradition in the New England for anyone with Italian cars. https://larzanderson.org/2019lawnevents/tuttoitaliano/
