1979 Alfetta Sprint Veloce 116
I am considering selling my beautiful 1979 Sprint Veloce which I purchased from the original owner about 3 years ago. The original owner was a Professor at Santa Monica College and he purchased the car brand new at Santa Monica Alfa Romeo in 1979. The 14 inch Ronal wheels were installed by the dealer by request of the original owner. The car currently has 78,278 original miles.
When I purchased it the car had been sitting in a garage for at least 10 years. I towed it back to my shop and it sat there a couple more years until last summer when I chose to spend a few days getting it up and running. I replaced several fuel lines, gave the ignition a tune, and she started right up. In addition I replaced all four brake calipers with brand new rebuilt ones from Centerline along with the brake and clutch master cylinders and all associated parts (hoses, pads, lines, etc). This is the condition it currently sits in. I thought I'd have time for this car but I have my Father's original 1983 GTV-6 now and with my limited time I will be concentrating on making that car run instead.
Condition is very good but of course not perfect. When I first purchased it I thought it still had it's original paint but after a thorough inspection it became clear that it's been treated good quality respray in the original color (guessing in the 80's). The car really only has two rust spots, the worst being near the Driver's jack point (though jack point is still very good), and the second being two bubbles under the passenger side windshield. Strangely the rear bumper is rusted, at some point water must have been trapped inside the rubber and it rotted from the inside out (see pics), other than that the car is in great shape.
Though the car starts and runs, I've really only put a few local miles on the car since the registration is currently on non-op status. Oh and the transmission shifts super smooth with no grinds!
I know there is no established market on these cars but because of it's one owner status and nice original semi time capsule condition I am thinking $7500 is fair but I'm open to real offers.
