1974 GTV 2000 For Sale

GTV 2000 Iniezione for sale - 27K miles

Pics and a couple of videos of the car are here:

1974 Alfa Romeo GTV 2000 (For Sale) - a set on Flickr

Currently this car doesn't run but turns over. Previously (2 months ago) it was running, though roughly (see video). I'm not too familiar with these cars and I'm not a mechanic, so your questions if too technical may be met with a blank expression. I'll tell you anything I know though!

I've been told by another GTV owner that this car had A/C at some point but it is no longer installed in the car. The evaporator however might still be installed in the dash.

I loved driving this car, it always turned heads wherever I went. Up until a couple of months ago I drove it at least twice a month for a few miles at least to keep it running well. It always drove very well, only smoking a bit under heavy acceleration. One of the last times I drove it the car suddenly seemed to be at half power - though still drove the same in other respects. It sounded rough so I stopped driving it at that point, intending to get it looked at. Unfortunately I cannot afford to spend $$ on fixing her - I need to be realistic about what I can afford these days - so it needs to go to someone who can take care of her properly. I had rescued it from a woman who was going to junk it as a tax write-off as it was her ex-husband's - she had no idea what it was...time for this GTV to get pushed up the ladder to someone who can do a better job taking care of her than I did.

The Good:
Fully registered California car
27K miles
Brakes are solid
Transmission is solid
Suspension is good
All original parts (except fuel pump)
Seats in good condition
Chromadora wheels
New cap and rotor
New plugs
New battery (Bosch) - located in rear
New Alternator
Decent Pirelli Tires
Gauges work
Hi/Low Lights work
Amber fog lamps work
Badges intact
Blower works
Wipers work
Body looks good
New wiring done in engine bay to alternator
Working "stereo" is a (ugh) Kraco tape deck with questionable speakers () , does work however

The Bad:
Doesn't run currently (I don't know why)
Rust on driver door bottom, bubbles
Rust in trunk area, due to leak from bad aftermarket antenna install, rust around gas can and on spare wheel well, rear battery tray rusted
When running last exhaust was smoking under load
Interior side door panels are in "OK" condition, slightly warped - new screws and some care would probably make these nicer looking
Heater vent is always open
Air Vent controls do not function (might be disconnected)
Gas gauge works but is "sticky"
Turn signals don't work
Plastic dash cracked around vents
Window seals starting to age/leak slightly

The Ugly:
Interior door panels need care, some light rust around sills in door, center console trim is loose
Missing rubber bumper covers
Generic "Pep Boys" fuel pump currently replacing stock version
Paint is not perfect, was a cheap respray by previous owner, a few chips and flakes, scratches on car
3 small hard to see dents near gas filler cap (see photos/video above)
Cheap and messy antenna replacement for original, bad install, will need replacing
Aftermarket side-view mirrors
Door speakers loose on driver's side

I've asked around and gotten feedback from many sources, I have arrived at what is a fair price for this car. Please take it to a good home and care for it the way it needs to be!

$6500 OBO

I'm in the bay area, California - ZIP: 94520

I can currently only show the car on weekend afternoons as I work day-through-evening weekdays.

Hey man, It sounds like you would like a trouble free sports car. Would you consider trading a Volvo 1800 ES in trade? Don't laugh yet. It's got a suspension package and a few mor mods. Frenched headlights and antenna, bumpers removed and filled, paint job is two tone blue with pearl green overlayer, Mazda Miata seats. The paint is whats called woodgraining on the lower half. It's won it's class in every show car it's been entered in. I really want a GTV and have an engine for it. Thanks Pete

da car

Thanks you are a hoot!!! I love it man I had a buddy who believed it or not had one I can't imgain what it would look like! I live in hawaii now so driving up to your favorite Alfa mechanic shop is not in the books here on Island. Then there is also finding out that the fuel filters really did not have to be changed every six months as my Alfa mechanic had told and thinking having it done for 10 years, was an eye opener. I found my afla in a car back in 76 and paid 4700. Parts having to ship here maybe just a little more but I was ready to fly to the Netherlands Zowie GTV is One of a Kind but it sold auwway!

send me a picture of your 1800E!!

Lopaka and thanks for your comments
