I wonder how many people will really not by a Maserati Spider just because they have an 8C option.

Current:
fast 1969 Berlina back to DCOE's
faster 1991 BMW 318i
fastest 1987 CBR1000

Past
1974 Spider
1979 Spider
1978? Alfetta

8c competizione(2007) will be a little more expensive than F430(150-156.000 in italy).....only 1000/1500 8c's per year cause the autobody is made from carbon fibers...many collectors have pre-ordered 8c.

Maserati is a different story and will first introduce the Spyder(2006) version(coupe in 2008) with not so extreme setup like 8c and retractable roof.Maserati want's to have an average production of 10.000 cars in Modena...
Current Quattroporte sells more than 4000 cars a year...with the new Spyder that will offer better performance than an SL55AMG at a SL500 price is simple to predict about a max 6000 cars pro annum...in 2008 they predict the new DB9 Continental GT sized 4 seat GT that will have a volume of 2000 cars for year and will maintain the production around 10.000 cars pro annum with quattroporte sales falling cause of age in 2008/9 the car will have 5/6 years...

Maserati Spyder 4,7/4,8lt 450hp 126.000
Maserati GT 450hp 120.000
8c competizione 4,2/4,3lt + compressor 475-500hp supercar

We shall see...

Remember the Alfa Romeo 8C Competizione concept car? The V8-powered, carbonfibre-bodied, front-engined supercar everyone said Alfa should build? Now, over two years since the concept was revealed at the 2003 Frankfurt show, it really could happen writes John Simister.

'It is my dream to do it,' said Alfa's recently-arrived CEO, Antonio Baravalle. 'We have cut the budget for our advertising campaign and will do the 8C instead, because it is a perfect way to promote the Alfa brand. Sergio Marchionne [president of Fiat Auto] says if the figures add up, do it.'

The plan is to have a production-standard 8C ready for the Paris show at the end of September, and to take orders for a 500-car production run then. It will be a coupé, like the concept car, but another of Baravalle's 'dreams' is to make a Spider version later.

The key sentence is...

Sergio Marchionne [president of Fiat Auto] says if the figures add up, do it.'

Meaning.. its very easy for him to say, the figures dont add up. heh. But lets hope, I think at about 500 vehicles a year, this car wont be as expensive as everyone else is speculating, maybe double a masi 3200gt? But for something that will surely outperform that and keep up with probably a 430 Ferrari (maybe, tall order there) for a less then a 430 Ferrari? This could have a very nice niche' in the market actually an inbetweener for those looking for expensive italian, but the ultimate sports car for an alfisti.

8c competizione will propably use the new 4,7lt of Maserati Spyder-450hp (2006) but with about 470/500hp.

Some quotes about the 8C from Italiaspeed.com:

'It is my dream to do it,' said Alfa's recently-arrived CEO, Antonio Baravalle. 'We have cut the budget for our advertising campaign and will do the 8C instead, because it is a perfect way to promote the Alfa brand. Sergio Marchionne says if the figures add up, do it.' The plan is to have a production-standard 8C ready for the Paris show at the end of September, and to take orders for a 500-car production run then.It will be a coupé, like the concept car, but another of Baravalle's 'dreams' is to make a Spider version later.

Here's another:

Final details of the construction are still to be worked out, but it will most likely be a carbonfibre body over a spaceframe chassis, like the concept. The engine will be based on the block used by the current Ferrari and Maserati V8s, and the end result will be 'more like Ferrari than Maserati' according to Baravalle. That means a flat-plane crankshaft and engine which screams instead of throbs. Target power is 440bhp, target price is as yet undisclosed.

8c Video…enjoy!
http://grandtheftauto.altervista.org/alfa.htm

F430’s engine was based in v8 of Maserati Couper/Spyder (that engine was based in AR’s V8 project of 1993) …8c competizione’s engine will be based to F430’s with simiral conversions in order to have ‘’roar’’ sound like classic alfa’s/Ferrari and not like Maserati that traditional have more mild/bass sound. It will be a real Gt like ferrari 599 & 612 and ofcourse Michael Schumacher will help in the development as he did with all Ferrari/Maserati supercars…even helped in 159/Brera.
8c is the only car in this price tag that offers car body from carbo fibers sth that much more expensive supercars like Enzo,Carrera GT,SLR,Veyron,Pagani,MC12,FXX offer…only that shows that is one step forward to F430,Gallardo,911 turbo,V8 Vantage,SL AMG etc....also is by far the most beautiful car at last 3 decates and cause to limited production it would be more exclusive (collectors favourite)….also 8c is the name of the first supercar ever made with engine in front most important than successor GTO-1962. 8c2300 was the first racing car (apart from grand prix) that brought the badge of cavallino rampante of scuderia ferrari and it used v8 with mechanical compressor!! …it has the name of the car that gave birth the philosophy in which based ferrari’s Gt from 166 until 599….8c will be more extreme than F430.Enzo begin as racing driver of AR…then alfa romeo assigned him the organization of scuderia Ferrari (1929) which was AR’s official racing team….many years later the first Ferrari was build-1947 based in the philosophy of alfa 8c and specially of its successor S10 V12…also the project of first Ferrari 166 is based in AR’s project that was cut of with state interference.Enzo had great respect to AR that refered to it as Mother…it was not accidental that he was was visiting his son (Dino) cemetery with his AR164 despite that in this period lancia thema 8.32 (with 8cylinder Ferrari engine) was introduced….he preferred 164!Cars like 8c competizione/Enzo/Mc12 are priceless cause demand is more that production.Even Mclaren F1 despite great reviews from the press it couldn’t sell even 100F1 in 5 years.,,and Italians had 1200 people who wanted to buy one of the 399+1 (tsunami) enzo’s…to all this add 29fxx and 50Mc12’s,400 people for 349 F50’s sth that shows that collectors with culture prefer Italian cars by far!... (in some occasions also some british supercars). For 8c competizione up to now they are 3000 people that are interested to buy it-cause the carbon fiber autobody allows only 500-1000 per year and imagine what will happen between the 3000 people who are interested. (remember Z8 of bmw that sold only 2000 and forced to take it out from the market).AR is the favourite car make for collectors with the biggest history in automotive field,a company that gave its help to Ferrari when it was asked.

Final version of 8c will be presented this September in Paris as said from Antonio Baravalle.AR has not yet speak about 8c’s engine power….ex AR’s CEO said in an interview that with the use of compressor this engine will have same torque with Carrera Gt which means 590nm…..when atmospheric engines of ferrari and maserati have 451/460ΝΜ.Each engine they will use 4.2lt (with compressor) v8 or the new 4.7lt v8 the engine power will be between 450 and 500hp…4.2lt version will weight 1400kg and 4.7lt 1350kg.Gallardo uses conventional alouminium monocoque like F430 when 8c has car body in carbon fiber and that is the reason for the limited production-500-1000 per year.Ceramic brakes are optional in F430 when in 8c are standard.F430 and 8c have different driving style cause the difference engine/gearbox position…. Like murcielago/f430 with 599/8c competizione-a tradition that begin with 8c2900 in 30es and continued with οι 550,575,Superamerica,456,612,599..cars that classic ferraristi appreciate most (V12) compared to fans of F430 which are multi-collective and with low cultivation level.Price in Europe-150.000euro.

I don’t have anything with Porsche……I just mentioned what Mb’s president told.Speaking with objectivity Cayenne is a Touareg with restyled front/rear end and different interior…everything else is the same as all the mechanical parts except 2 engines….car body of Cayenne is build in Slovak in the same factory with Touareg and then it is send in Germany for the final assembly…... Cayenne is a travestite Touareg.Porsche whether you like it or not is a company that started from low and nowadays maintains in 911 the architecture of city car and pretends of selling supercars.High profit with low cost…..even it’s last model cayman uses a 10years old frame….Negatives in AR’s history are less than those of hypothetic premium brands like audi, bmw, porsche.

Looks like this car is still carbon fiber.. thats gonna be amazing if they make this somewhat competitively priced with the masi/ferrari lineups... Just for bragging rights the 500 production cars will fly out the door im sure.

none of those 8c vids are working sakiss! dont tease like that.
