odd, if you have voltage. Maybe a loose contact, broken wire, that just happened to work when you tested it? Tried wobbling it about, moving the wires with the headlight connected and power to lowbeams on?

you can find new H4 connectors (H4 Steckkupplung) for a few euros if need be.
