Alfa house now in Florida

We arrived yesterday with our last trailer load.

My spares now almost all moved south.

BB1 MY 164L Automatico still in VB Alfa house until house sells.

Spare front bumper in shed at beach house as trailer was stuffed to the roof.

I'm glad the toughest part is over, Steve! I'd rather take a beating, than move, to be honest.

For sure. We bought our first house back in '80, and have never thought about moving. If nothing else, just too much crap now.

The Seattle area kind of sucks now, at least in a few ways. With the local property taxes continually rising, retired people we know are being forced out of their houses. And, with Amazon, Expedia, etc, and other high tech businesses filling up the city, the traffic is absolutely terrible now. The pipe smokers replaced the waterfront viaduct with a tunnel under Seattle, and guess what, it doesn't work.

Sigh, sorry, rant over.

At least we don't have hurricanes, and Alfas don't rust worth talking about.

Congrats Steve on finally getting moved. Just don't drown when the water rises, lol.

Yeah-driving through Seattle.
Heading south on I-5, I used to think that, like a ski run, there should be signs up.
Identifying the hard way with "Double Black Diamond".
Then, the "beginner-intermediate" way through.
But it was always a "Double Diamond" challenge.

It's worse now for sure. We don't go downtown or through anymore if we can help it.

Moving does get old but I have done it a few times single and more married over the last 60 some years.
1958-64 with Navy seabag no spouse
With bride from Virginia beach in 1965 to Japan, next in 68 with new son in tow, San Diego next in 69 onto Corpus Christi, TX, then in 70 to Pensacola, FL. Back in 75 to San Diego with two kids.
Back to Virginia Beach in 77 still as a foursome.
With new wife and new child to Jacksonville, FL in 1995 and back to Virginia Beach in 2000.

The ninth move for me with family in 2018-19 is to this Alfa house in Lakeland maybe the last big move for us. I lived here before from 1951 to 1958 and for a short time in late 1962. Have lived the longest in Virginia Beach about 31 years from 1960 to 2018 with those 8 moves to and from thrown in for good measure.

I bought my first house in 1972 in FL, second in 1975 in San Diego, third in 1977 in VB , fourth in 95 in JAX , fifth in 2003 back in VB and this FL sixth one now last year.

Alfas have been moving with me since 1992.

Only water to rise near us now is in the swimming pool.

I spent some time in garage today. I got spare 164 engine moved under work bench on dolly and engine hoist disassembled again and stored next to it near workbench.

That's a lot of moves. Same as my cousin in Cal, being in the Air force, being moved to many places, including a stint in Oahu. Later he became the Materiel manager for the former McClellan AFB, near Sacramento.

Good about the water being in your pool. The Navy in Norfolk is spending many millions to raise docks, barriers, etc, because of slowly rising water and sinking land. The change in effective seal level, 14 inch rise since 1950, in those areas is the greatest in the US. It is reckoned that in the near term, $4B will be spent on protective measures.

Have fun in your pool. We enjoy ours but too cold and costly to heat it yet, usually the middle of May til middle of Oct.

Rick he is now graduated from college and living and working near DC. His dad now has a home in St Pete. They are still into Mercs but their day jobs keep them too busy to drive them.

Hope you two are doing well.

Still have that 164L I drove down that I got from Chris in 09 but it still in VA. We are still buds on FB. He has a 500X and his Guzzi's.
