164Q4 info and Update

Anyone know of any 164Q4 in the states? I have one return on a search for a Q4. I have heard that there might be 3 or 4. Would these have been factory or private importations?

Update on the 164Q register. We now have found with some help from two very important people working with me, 52/75 cars for 1995. We know that there have been some cars parted out but we only know of 2 by serial number. I know of two more but don't have the serial numbers at hand. Any help is greatly appreciated.
We are in need of 1994 cars, so far only showing 2.

I heard of a Q4 in California, but didn't know where or whom. The one in Seattle I wasn't aware of. I was told there are only 200-300 world wide.
I know of the black 94 Q at APE. I lost the serial number. The current one is also a 94 that was totaled. I have that serial number in the data base now. The Q that bit the dust in Culver City I don't know about. Can you obtain any data for me on that one? Once I get a number and last known owner, then that is all the info I need for the data base.
There is a black 1995 Q in the Fallbrook area. The owner has several other nice Alfa's including a Quattroruote spider, which he brings out to shows.

Just a question on Q4's. How were these imported to the states? Did they come through Canada perhaps?

I made an inquiry to the right person evidently and here is what came back to me. This is from Alfa Romeo via a middle party. "This car was produced in 1206 exemplars." How many are here? Hard to say as it wasn't a car imported by Alfa Romeo from what I have heard. How the cars got in is anyone's guess because the VINs are European. One of my sources says that he can identify 22 cars and I can identify one stateside and another source gives me 2. Probably count Q4's on one hand most likely that are stateside.

The issue here is U.S. import regs. Since the vins are registered with DOT (Dept. Of Transportation) how can they be leagally registered to drive here. I had thought about ways to do it without getting car federalized and thought maybe if Canada or Mexico had them you get one across the border and do the old vin switcheroo with a 94/95 perhaps. Yes I know this is illegal and I was only thinking off the cuff. You know one of those daydreams about "How could I get one of them"...

There may be some 164Q4s in the US that are not 100% legally certified. Maybe their owners would not look kindly on all this sniffing around??

Just a thought.

I think TJ's is legal, but restricted usage. It's been a couple of years since we discussed it, but it seems to me you can bring cars in for restricted use, like racing, not licensed for the road.

I agree. Personally, I say let them enjoy their cars. I don't need to know.
