Faulty Speedo Sensor

Any advice on dealing with a faulty speedo sensor on a 12v 164q?
Can it be repaired?
Can I still buy a new sensor? Does anyone have a new or used one?
Cheers.

I take it you have a euro spec 164QV if a 12v model. What year?

Thanks for the reply Steve. Its a 1992 12V 164Q (manual) Australian delivery.
I have had the sensor out a few times. Tried cleaning it with contact cleaner the first time. Soaked it in petrol the second time. Last Friday I just banged it on the work bench in hope lol Each time it has worked for a day then failed again. Most of the 164s here where/are auto so finding a replacement isn't easy.

you may have to use your Tom Tom or Garmin GPS unit as a speedo.

Had to do that on a trip with the 91S. Speedo stopped working all of a sudden, so we pulled out the old GPS. Worked fine once the thing got satellite signals. In about an hour, the speedo started working again, and has never quit again, thousands of miles down the road. Was interesting to check the GPS against the speedo once it worked again.

OK, today I tested all my speedo senders and found some bad ones but also found some good ones. I have a few used ones I can sell if interested both for A/T and 5-speed models. I have one euro style connector that could be spliced onto sender if needed.

3 used A/T senders 60800459 ss by 7624312
3 used (now only 2 left) 5-speed senders 60800458 ss by 7624310
1 euro connector

Two new ones are my reserve for BB1 A/T 7624312 and BB2 5-speed 7624310.

I'm looking for a speed sensor for a guy on a Norwegian alfa-forum.

His sensor says:
681057 L9 12V 41MP/G

Do you have one like that?

Thanks!

According to Jason that number is for 5 spd.

http://www.alfabb.com/bb/forums/758429-post5.html

There's a typo on the specs given by Kasperhog, it should read 4IMP/G, not 41MP/G — that's 4 impulses per revolution.
