No worries on that rod-n-bellows for the slave.
If the hairpin clip was on the fork when you reinstalled it won't go anywhere, and you can just remove the circlip on the slave to let you back it up enough to pop the stuff back in.
The only thing you would need to be concerned about in regard to the rod-n-bellows is that if the line is hooked up and there's fluid in the system and someone pushes the pedal while the rod is NOT up against anything, it may blow it's guts out onto the floor.
Doubtful that's a situation you'll run into, but just throwing it out there for future reference.

Trans mount issue maybe
Ok got the trans in and hooked up the drive shaft, but now Im having a little dificulty with the trans mount. I installed a new bushing and the powerflex pieces and got it all together on the trans, but when I go the lift / push the trans into place it seems like the mount is too low. I finally resorted to the trans jack , but before I just go ahead and crank it up , and push the trans all the way up to the floor, I thought I would check with you guys. Anyone notice a new bushing causing this problem, or is this even a problem.
Here is the part im trying to get in place.
Here is poly bushing inserts I am using.

Hmmm
what about the screw speedometer cable since you bent it at such a obtuse angle. Ever thought of removing it from the trans before this .......

Speedo cable
Thanks for the tip. I did hook it up before attaching the drive shaft, but now that you mention it, I did not think of this as a cause, so it may be binding. I'll let you know what I find.

Looks like you won the prize! Thanks I think the cable was hung up, and now is free and ( hopefully) undamaged. Got the mount installed. Im going to try the powerflex bushing combined with the new trans bushing and see what it feels/sounds like. If the vibration is bad I'll pull the powerflex and go back to stock. Thanks again.

Slow but sure
Well I got the drive shaft hooked up to the trans and the propeller shaft, and installed the crossbar(wore a mask Gloves and goggles because of asbestos heat shield). tonight exhaust and top up trans. Then over the weekend I'll bleed the hydraulics and get her going. Once Im sure all is well I will reassemble the console etc.
Gabriel
PS more pictures coming soon.

Thanks, but as I got the bolts in and tightened everything up the band loosened up nicely and I got it off with no problem. Last night I got the exhaust hooked up, checked the fluid level in the trans, and re attached the fan shroud. The last piece is filling, and bleeding the hydraulic system, so I should be good to go for this weekend.

Issabella Rides again!
Yes Sir!, just finished bleeding the clutch and drove her to the car wash 20 minutes ago. Think my second gear crunch is gone too. I just have to reassemble the boots around the shift tower and put the console back together. Thanks for all of the support.

Congratulations Gadwhite. Good Job.
I have my rebuilt transmission from Santo's shop and all the refurbished exhaust and drive shaft parts. The new aluminum flywheel looks really cool! Final tally $2,811 for all the work. It is all in great shape. I am really pleased. They did a great job on everything. The final test will be driving around with it, of course, but so far so good.

Joe Papa
I actually did nothing to the box, except clean it up. Everything is fine ,except I had to adjust the trans support by shimming the four bolts that hold it to the body to correct a problem where 1st and 3rd gear were difficult to engage because the shifter was hitting the console. I put a washer between the trans mount support and the body at each of the four bolt holes. It did the trick. I still have an occaisional 2nd gear crunch, but its much better than before.

Trans replacement
Joe Papa
My plans are to , at some time pick up a rebuildable trans and work on it at my leisure. Eventually I'll have a usable one to replace my current one, but for now it's summer time fun!
