Thanks for the reply BillS
It is indeed the older style gearbox. Just took it apart - the #2 "syncro gear teeth" looks a bit worse for wear (It grates when changing to 2nd, so was expected), and the oil was fairly gray from all the metal bits
The Shaft seal that is on the bellhousing was screwed! So will replace that, and I took the 3 O-rings out, they are worn, and quite hard, so will replace that too.
One question - my trusty local Alfa parts supplier told me to just get 'standard' O-rings to put in there, and I dont have a problem with that, but can anybody tell me the 'official' size for them? I do have the old ones to take in as samples, but would like to back that up with numbers.
Thanks!
Oh, and one more thing - the 3 shift rods has got a ball-bearing next to each O-ring, so its obvious how they go together. But at the back, 3 'long' ball bearings (like needle bearings, just rounder at the edges) fell out. There are 3 holes in the shell casting, do I just shove the 3 into those 3 holes?
