It's still in the car, I've had job interview after interview after interview-using my Dad's work van for transportation in exchange of servicing his drum brakes, water pump, exhaust sytem and power steering pump. I may have a job and you may be right-somewhat-of what I'll end up spending...with all new syncros and rings, bearings, seals, bushings and having ALL the gears lightened and new dog bones installed: $2,170 USD. That is if I get the job I want, otherwise, 1 new syncro and 3 rings and front and rear seal will be the limit.

Depends on your definition of finished...
The black spot in front of the tranny is not oil, black epoxy paint my boy spilt. Oil came out clear (Mobil One Synthetic).
Take a good look at the tranny mount!

It looks very clean as If it has been out recently? Mobil 1 cannot be the right oil. Remove the guibo & yoke 1st. Dont lose the 3 beans on the shift rod interlock. All details are within this forum. Regards

Will I need gear pullers to get the gears off the shaft? I got my first gear off last night, but 2nd gear doesn't want to come off, there is a shim on the shaft that doesn't seem to want to budge, am I missing an easy trick here?

I use a press and metal plates to remove all gears but 3rd, which i use a puller on the tunion, then remove the key ways, then the gear. That helps prevent sratching the bushing on the keyways.

First I used a gear puller, then I used a brake caliper piston compressor tool. The syncro for 5th and reverse was in beautiful condition, 3rd to 4th had a little wear on the 3rd side, so I traded that one with 5th to R, with "bad" side facing rear. First and second needs replacement. Dog rings look alright, some better than others, I will gently file those bad looking ones into shape...Should I have 1,2 and 3 gear lightened? I was thinking it may be more power producing to do 1,2 and reverse as reverse is constantly spinning on the shaft and is much bigger than 3rd gear, what do you guys think?
