Greasing of Internal Bearings When Reassembling?

I have found several references in the Alfa Documentation that refer to obscure grease (Retinax AX and Agip Grease 33 FD) to be placed on the main flange bearings (and other bearings and seals) when reasseambling the transmission of the GTV6/Milano.

Is this necessary? These things are immersed in oil...

I have found the Shell recommended replacement for the Retinax AX, but before buying 10 tubes of this stuff (to use a portion of 1!) I wanted to hear what others have done.

figured this one out on my own

the manual is recomending using grease when pressing the bearings into the flange!! slow day...

Still, some form of assembly paste is a good idea as not all components will be sitting in oil the first time you use the reconditioned transmission. Assembly paste is also good insurance when a rebuild takes a long time., Keeps everything lubed and corrosion-free while you gather the funds and find the time to complete the job
