"discoloration" of the Pinon Shaft

I have my transmission apart (GTV6) and this is what I found on my Pinon Shaft.

This "discoloration" is located under the center flange, in between the two bearings. There is also a spacer here, between these two bearing and it appears that it too is marked where is contacts the shaft. This is not a "working" surface, the bearings ride just outside this surface. To the touch it appears smooth. The are about 1/16th to 1/8th in size.

Has anyone encountered these markings? Shall I start looking for another shaft? Or just reassemble and enjoy?

Will it polish off with 600/800 carbide paper used by hand? Is there any depth tp the marks, can they be felt? If you cannot feel them with a fingernail, and/or they polish out, reassemble as they are possibly moisture spotting. If they can be felt and have depth, they may act as stress risers, though I've seen worse. Gordon Raymond

Thanks for the good news. They cannot be felt by hand and are smooth. I have not tried sanding them off, but I understand this has no real benefit..so I will just leave them as is....
