Gtv6 Transmission Ratio

Does anybody know if a 1985 GTV6 ( non isostatic ) has a 4.1 or 3.43 ( I think) . Or can anybody tell me all the gear rations for this transmission and also for a Milano Verde and Platinum. Thanks

The 1985 GTV6 has the 4.10 ring and pinion with a very low 3.5:1 first gear. The Milanos use different gears.

Which Is Better?

SO if I put a LSD in my already new syncro rebuilt transmission how would it compare to the Platinum box and also Alfa changed mid 1985 to isostatic shifter. Woukd the ratios be the same on all 1985 transmissions?

yes the 82 does have a 3.42. It's actually one of my favorite ratios.

GTV6PASSION: The overwhelming majority of GTV6/Milano owners prefer the 86 GTV6/Milano 2.5 ratios. They are probably the best for performance on most racetracks due to the relatively close spacing and the 4.10 ring and pinion.

The 85' and earlier GTV6's have a 3.5:1 first which is pretty low and when combined with the 4.10 ring and pinion the reach in first gear is pretty short. The spacing of the earlier gear boxes is pretty wide, the rpm drop during a redline shift from first to second is about 3500 rpm.

Now with all that said...which one is best for you really depends on your intended use. For long highway driving, or some sort of top speed contest the 82'+83' GTV6 box is king. It's 3.42 gears provide tremendous reach in each gear, mine goes about 75mph in second and about 110 in third. At Texas highway speeds third is just right to pass people. The low 3.5:1 first allows for reasonably quick first gear acceleration. The big drawback vs the 4.10 box is spacing and loss of acceleration.
