Milano Platinun

Can someone confirm what year the Milano Platinum was sold in the USA. I believe I read some where that the 5 speed Platinum was sold only in 1987 and in 1988 1nd 1989 the platinum was available in an automatic. Does anybody know this.

The Bay Area, CA, dealers only had 1987 and 1988 Platinums. When I went to shop for Milanos in 1989, the only new ones they had were Gold editions (strangely, with "Silver" edition seats from 1987 and 1988, but had power everything), and Verde editions. The Silver and Platinum versions had been deleted from the product line.

That said, they DID have brand new 1987 Platinum cars ON THE LOT in 1989, and I picked up a blue one for $22K. I think, due to the inventory of 1987 and 1988 Platinums, they culled the line-up for 1989.

See I am trying to source a Platinum transmission but I need to know what year to look for . Again I do not remember I read somewhere that the 1988 and 1989 platinum were automatic and only the 1987 was a 5 speed.

Correct. If you want a manual 4.10 ratio diff with LSD, the 1987 Platinum is it as far as USA cars go.
