took apart my old transmission..

just to see what happend. i thought it was a bearing gone bad. after i opened it up , a quartrant fell out. then after a little solvent and some water. the other quartrant fell out the 2 bands, then ... this is good.. the syncho ring.. should i call it a 'ring'? more like a'S' shape to it, and i am missing 3 teeth off the 3 gear layshaft... thought it was really bad.. but now the box can be re-built wih some parts... going to get this on lightend at freinds machine shop.

Sounds like those synchro pieces were floating around in there wreaking havoc on the gears. There might be minute damage to the other gears & synchro pieces as well. A close inspection will tell. Gotta wonder if one of the retainer clips wasn't seated properly when the box was last assembled...

the box was labled 1983, the car is an 1984.but not too much damage in there. going to get a new layshaft and 2 gear in a month or so, then this spiring, get it lightend up.then remove the trans in my car, switch them, and get the 2nd box lightend up also.
