No resistance in clutch pedal

The clutch pedal on my 89 Spider goes to the floor without any resistance. This happened all of a sudden. I could no longer shift grears and had to have the car towed home. Does anyone have any idea as to what has failed in the clutch assembly based on this brief description?

If the clutch fluid resevior is empty or very low your best bet is to look to the lines, bleeder valve in the slave, or anywhere from master cylinder to slave cylinder for leaks.

If it's full, check the pivot arm on the clutch to make sure it hasn't sheared off on you as is known to happen.

Watch the linkage near the master cylinder while someone presses the pedal.

If the stuff don't move, then the arm has broken loose. (several threads on the subject in various parts of the forum)

If it's not the arm or a leak, you're prolly looking at a failed master or slave cylinder.

Any of these:

Resevoir is empty.
Master or slave cyl. seals are shot.
Cracked pipe or hose.
Bolt mounting pedal to shaft has sheared.
Slave cyl. fell out of holder in transmission bell housing because of missing snap ring.

Thanks for the help. That pivot arm is probably a good place to start.
