Transaxle final drive ratios
ZF made the transaxles for Alfetta's, GTV-6's and Milanos. I recently put a Twin Spark in my Alfetta and the transaxle is geared so low that I'm spinning 4,000 at 80 mph. I have 195/60/14 Bridgestones on it. Yes, theyare slightly lower profile than the stock tires. Which transaxle has the tallest rear end ratio? Thanks!

That sounds about right for a car with the 4.10:1 ratio transaxle.
Milano Verdes came with a 3.55:1 ratio, and 1982-83 GTV6s came with a 3.42:1 ratio. Both of those are very tall and should provide the relaxed cruising you are looking for, although only the Verde box will have LSD standard.

Isn't it only the Milano Platinum that had the LSD from the factory?

In the USA, the Platinum was the only 4.10:1 ratio transaxle with LSD. The 3.55:1 Verde transaxle also had LSD.

Huh, cool. I didn't realize that. I had always thought it odd that they didn't put the LSD in the more powerful car, turns out they did!
Are the LSDs identical? Is it possible/practical to put the Verde LSD into a 4.1:1 ratio box from a Silver or Gold? That would make it a bit easier to outfit the Verde with the 'preferred' setup.

Possible, but not easy.
The LSD unit itself is identical. Properly setting up the pinion is not trivial. I know of a few people who have done this, both very experienced mechanics with specialized tools. Even they didn't get it right the first time.

The LSD diff unit and the non-LSD diff units are not geometrically identical and is not an easy swap. I have done it (putting an LSD into a non-LSD box) and it sure took some thinking to get it right. And yes, I got it right the first time.
LSD into another LDS box should be quite easy in comparison.

how do you tell the Verde from the Platinum LSD. I have one of each I believe but do not know how to tell them apart.
