Special propshaft for 105

My German is sehr röstlich, so is there anyone here who can tell me more about the special propshaft I've just come across here (then click on 'Specials')? I seem to recall some chatter on the Alfa Digest a couple of years ago about Nissan-based (?) carbon fibre propshafts: this seems to have the advantage of greater slip-joint surface area. Might well be lighter, too. Let's have a translation!

Alex.

Translaton

The lower one has an upgraded sliding spline section. The web site says that the original sliding splines are too weak to support the torque from a 2 L motor (first I heard of that).

No mention of any weight savings. But it is supposed to stop the drive line vibrations that supposedly cause the starter to rip a chunk out of the bell housing (my car did this, I replaced the transmission which had a worn output shaft).

Could worn sliding splines caused by a "too strong" 2 L motor really cause this kind of drive line vibration in a 4 cylinder car?
