It doesn't cost a lot to ship a gearbox. I had mine rebuilt last year and it was much better for me to mail it to another state than to get it done locally.

There are places in LA (Santo's), Bay Area (Norman Racing, Glenn Oliveria) or Santa Barbara (B & B Imports).

I bought a head from Will and it was a straightforward honest deal. Head if anything was better than indicated.

What does an overhaul generally run at a place like Santo's?

Can't speak to Santo's prices, but I have two transes in, that I R&Red myself, to Glenn Oliveria in Berkeley, and they were both under $500. This was 4-5 years ago. Both excellent jobs, one of which has seen a few thousand track miles.

R&R yourself + $500 for an overhaul with a few thousand track miles? Sounds like you got yourself a good deal and Mr. Oliveria is a good man! Thanks!
