first gear

Group,

After much work, I am about ready to launch the revived 86 GTV6. Here is my issue and I appreciate any suggestions, I dropped the trans axle to replace all the mounts and bushings. I pulled the shifter assembly off and when I replaced it I replaced the roll pin with a bolt. I checked clearances and all seemed well but now that everything is bolted back up, I cannot get into first gear. All others are fine and I can ALMOST get into first. Is there some kind of adjustment on the shifter I should be looking at or is this bolt keeping me from shifting into first??

Jeff

Is this with the transaxle in or out of the car?

Just saw the answer to my question in line three. Did it go into gear OK before you reinstalled it? If so, I'd suspect a linkage adjustment issue. Your mod could have possibly limited the movement of things, but presumably you checked the comparative movement?

Did you remove the extra plates from the new side mounts? Leaving them in place shouldn't mis-align it enough to make shifting difficult (mine didn't) but never say never and so on...
