Got this part left
Finally finished my throw out bearing replacement. Many thanks to the BB members that answered my questions, and helped me through. I've never done this job before ,and with your help I think I did pretty good. I only have this one part left!! Even used all the washers!! Could ya tell me where it goes.

I installed the throw out return spring. Everything works fine. I'm thinking exhaust, but I just can't remember where the darn thing goes. I should include more info. 1967 Duetto with non hydraulic clutch.

I looks like the throwout arm return spring to me too. I have a 67 Duetto and a 67 Giulia Super, both with mechanical clutches. The loop goes on one of the bolts that attaches the pedal box to the body, and the spring hooks onto a tab on the sheet metal clutch cover. What throwout spring DID you install ??? Pic ???

If everything works after all is buttoned up and nothing leaks it is what is known as a wee bit.
Place in open palm of hand horizontal in front of you and bend arm sharply upwards at the elbow whilst saying "WEEEEEEE"
Its a good idea to keep eyes closed whilst performing this incantation as if you suddenly find it was important it adds to the fun of not having a clue of where it went.

It is a return spring! It attaches to the front bolt of the pedal box, and goes in a whole in the clutch pedal linkage. It had the patina of toasted alfa oil so I thought it was on the exhaust. It sits right above it. Thanks for keeping me focused. Now I can do the dance!!!!!!

Can you post a pic? My Super has lived without the return spring since I put it back together - I couldn't figure out a way to re-install that made sense. I didn't have the little loop on mine, so that's probably the trouble.
Thanks,
Jason

I can't believe that I said it attached to the pedal box and then to the clutch cover . DUH ! What would THAT accomplish ????.
Glad you figured it out. Now back to smacking myself on the forehead...

Here's a couple of pictures. It goes from a bolt on the pedal box to the clutch pedal linkage. Check the bolt the loop may still be attached. No need to beat yourself if you didn't point me in the right direction, I'd still be asking " where the heck does this go?"

Thanks, Tom. Now to see if I can find the little wedge thingie in the big box o' hardware, or if I'll have to make something up. It'll be nice not to have the clutch pedal flopping around.
