redline in early 105

my Duetto has the trans with the early syncros. I was told that I can't use just any gear oil. Are any of the redline oils compatible?

I've been working on this problem myself... Originally I think they used Dentax. I googled it and discovered that it is 90w GL-1 gear oil instead of GL5. I ordered some but they made me order 6 gallons... I can send you a gallon if you want some..I should get it tomorrow. It costs me @ 7 something a gallon.
Let me know.
Stan

No it's not redline. I have the carton in my truck that I just sent on some business chores.

Redline is Synthetic. This is not. I don't know if Redline makes GL1, I know they make GL5...
I difference is Moly syncros or non moly syncros. They changed mid year in 67.. the GL1 will work in both.

The big deal about Redline or Spirex in the GL5 formula is that it is not too slick. If you use off the shelf GL5 it is designed for modern trannys and is too slick for Alfa Syncros causing the syncro not do grab and do it's job.
I will send you the GL1 if you want. I have the 6 gallons.
Let me know!

I just bought 2 quarts of redline MT/90 GL-1 from IAP for $11.50 a quart. Is the redline 6 times better? For my egos sake I hope so. What are the advantages of using a synthetic?
