DownShift from 5th to 4th

I just had a Clutch Pedal Pin Replaced on my '91 Spider, which I have owned for about 3 weeks...now when driving I sometimes have a problem downshifting from 5th to 4th, not problems with other downshifts...so perhaps I am not operating the shift and clutch properly or there might be a potential problem on the horizon....any thoughts, and I don't think this is related to the CPP....

How so the problem? Can you describe further? Does the clutch disengage all the way, and do the other gears shift OK?

The othger gears downshift fine, it seems if I take my time downshifting to 4th it goes in smoothly, perhaps I am not fully used to this gear box, since I have only had the car a few weeks..another issue is that I notice from time to time when pulling out in 1st gear there is a pulling from the rear perhaps once again me not be use to the gear box, since this does not happen all the time...I might just be being to picky about the smoothness of the gears....

Fifth to fourth shouldn't be different from any other unless the synchro is damaged or the shift forks bent. Does it go into reverse OK?
You do have to zig-zag of course from the 5/R plane to the 3/4 plane. Make sure you have the clutch all the way down. Maybe make sure it's full of oil too. Might be a problem, or might just take getting used to. Having an experienced Alfa person drive it for a second opinion might be of help.

Greetings:

Well, one of the common "fixes" for an alfa 5-speed tranny is to swap the 1st/2nd scychro with the one from 5th. Maybe some one swapped a worn 1/2 into the 3/4 slot, which would put the shabby 2nd gear surface into the 4th gear !
