I lost my clutch Sunday...:-(

Hi,

Quick question:

Lost my clutch Sunday, crawled under car, big leak from the slave cylinder.
Car was restored about 15 years ago, presume that the hydraulic system was done at that time. Hadnt been driven much up until 4 years ago.
So question:

A: Replace Master and Slave and hose.
B: Replace Slave and hose

I would appreciate ideas and or opinions..

Thanks

George

I'd replace the hose and get a repair kit for the slave. The slave has very few replaceable parts and is easy-ish to fix.

Yea, if it's the slave that's leaking, then replace or rebuild the slave - not the master. And sure, while you're in there, replace the flex hose as well. The master is probably OK, though that business about "Car was restored about 15 years ago, presume that the hydraulic system was done at that time. Hadnt been driven much up until 4 years ago" worries me - all of your hydraulics may be about to die.

I would recommend checking the braking system so that you don't post another message next week titled "lost my brakes Sunday"

Smile Thanks..

Put new hose and slave in last night. So back on the road..

Good idea I will check out the the calipers and master cylinder for leaks etc.

Brake hoses are steelbraid, lined ( teflon??) so should last for ever..or close..

Thanks for the input...

Gotta go got a car I need to drive..:-)
