Vacuum leak at booster

I have a brand new brake booster in my 69 GTV and it seems to have a vacuum leak. The pedal doesn't change running or not. The car stops, but it takes a large amount of pedal pressure to do so. If I pinch off the vacuum line, the engine idles better, the hissing stops from the booster, and the pedal feels the same. Did my booster just die with less than 100 miles on it, or is it the check valve staying open? Anyone had this issue before?

Thanks,
Will

Had the same problem with our 69 GTV. Turned out that the old booster had the check valve in the booster while the new booster did not. After installing a spare screw in check valve into #4 cylinder intake, problem was solved. Your check valve could also be stuck open.
Did this symptom show up immediately with the new booster or only after 100 miles of driving?

It seems to be a new thing, although its hard to say. I think it was working while I still had a leak in the fluid portion, the pedal now is just hard and the brakes don't feel positive at all. I think it might be the valve is stuck open. Its causing the engine to run lean (it sneezes through the intake, sounds like #4 cylinder). I have never had to deal with power brakes before this, and I didn't even know about the check valve until someone here at work suggested it might be the culprit.

Thanks,
Will
