Unhappy 146 Ti Problem - stuck brake piston

Hi,
After any advice anyone can offer.
I came to change the rear pads and discs on my 146.
Got as far as dismantling the calipers and removing the old pads and discs. However try as I might I could not push back the piston which presses the pads to the disc.
I've done this job on other cars and realise it sometimes takes a bit of force to push back as your pushing against brake pressure. This piston however seems to be stuck fast.
The handbrake was off and there was no pressure on the brake pedal.
Am I missing something, anyone got any advice?
Thanks

You are indeed missing something; you need to wind the piston in. You will never just push it in as it is on a thread for the handbrake system to take up brake wear. Use some grips on the 'cross' m/c into the end of the piston.

Last question

Sorry, one more question - I should have asked, does it wind in clockwise or anti ?

Turn piston clockwise and apply slight pressure to piston face as you rotate piston. I use a C-clamp and tighten slightly as I rotate piston with water pump pliers or curved jaw vise grip pliers.
