Rack&pinion into a 105 ???

I've just dusted off Jim K's book on Alfa engine modifying and he mentions in passing that it's possible to fit a R&P into a 105

Is this really feasible without rebuilding the whole car and/or moving the engine ? Anyone seen it or had it done themselves ?

Whatever rack you use try to keep the inner steering arm pivots in the same location as what they were on the original set up and you'll be close regards minimal bump steer.
IMO the rack may end up too short and result in a poor turning circle.

A fantastic book on the subject, without getting too technical, is:

"How to Build And Modify Sportscar And Kit Car Suspension And Brakes" by Des Hammill.

It's by Veloce Publishing, ISBN1-903706-73-4. Ensure you get the latest edition (I have 2nd edition).

It's aimed at Kit Cars and Clubmans, but will really help anyone understand their suspension better, and appreciate what compromises the designers of road cars must make.
