Bedding in new brakes?

How do all of you bedd in your new brake pads for track/street?

I've hear folks talking about this but wanted to start a thread on it in hopes of seeing what the consensus is.

Also what pads do you find work the best on Alfas?

Simon,

How you bed in pads is usually dependent on the type of brake pad. I have had very good luck just following manufacturer recommendations, which usually go something like this (each mfg. will spec a different speed and number of repetitions, hence they x, y, and z)

1) perform X number medium brake applications, from Y mph down to Z mph, without ever coming to a complete stop.

2) drive for a number of miles without using the brakes to allow them to cool down from this first heat cycling.

3) That's it, you're done.

For what it's worth, I have been extremely happy with Centerline's carbo-metallic pads on my GTV. Good track/street pad that has a lot of initial bite on the street without needing to be heated up first. Dust - a lot better than some pads, but certainly they dust some.

Ferodo

What about Ferodo? IAP's got Ferodo premium metallic pads on sale for 10% off.

I hate brake dust! Cleaning my Spider's Turbinas was a pain in the ***!
