Question Suspension Bushes

Hi all.

I´m thinking on update the bushes of my Alfa Spider. I am doubting about installing rubber bushes or polyurethane bushes.

Are the polyurethane bushes too stiffer and will be pernicious for the car at long time due to the low chassis rigidity? I´ve mounted Koni sports (yellow) with the original springs.

Do you have any experience with polyurethane bushes?

Do you recommend to me something special (IAP, Alfaholics, centreline ….)?

Any advice?

Thanks.

Bushings

Carlos,
i'm in the same boat.. Restoring my 1969 duetto and taking the whole suspension apart... Thought about going poly but heard much about the negative side if you are not going to be racing. i'm only looking for a great handling daily driver. I heard that poly makes for a less comfortable ride (vibration, noise, extra stress on car ..)..
i'll look forward to the responses to your post but I'm looking at changing all rubber for new rubber except for the rear trailing arm trunion which I have been told to replace with Montreal harder rubber trunions.

Hope experienced alfistis will share their experience.
Good luck

Roland

Hello Roland.

The confortable ride is not problem for me because I don´t use my spider as a daily car, I only use it inthe weekend for fun.

The big problem is the extra stress and also the noise.

“changing all rubber for new rubber except for the rear trailing arm trunion which I have been told to replace with Montreal harder rubber trunions.”

Are you referring to the “T” arm bushing on differential (two conical pieces) or to the trailing arm bushes (four pieces)?

Where are you going to buy the bushes?

PD: I have seen your duetto photos . Good luck with the restoration.

Bushings

I am speaking of the "T" arm trunion bushings (conical). I would buy them from a distributor here in France Victor Parts (no web site). He mentionned that most distributors in Europe can get these.
