Sinking Spider

This may label me as a mega idiot, but while fueling my Spider the other day, I was leaning against the car and noticed that the car was sinking beneath me as I was fueling.

Now I can understand why this would happen (the tank was pretty empty), but 10 gallons of unleaded only weighs 61 pounds or so. I have never noticed this on any other car--I'm a pretty lazy guy, and I lean against just about every car I gas up.

Is this weak springs? Or just weak powers of observation & intellect?

That's what my wife told me. I was hoping it wasn't true....

heh heh.

Your car will 'sink' as you put in fuel. Both my (street) Milano and 164 will sink a little as you fill 'em up. My race Milano has rather stiff springs and doesn't sink quite as readily (not a whole lot of squat upon acceleration either!).
