A Sticky Tale: A Brake's Story.
Hello to all my Alfisti buddies out there, I have a bit of a Sticky situation, as in my Right front brake. Here is the tale......
My 1971 Spider Veloce is my baby, she stays in a nice clean garage, with a nice dust cover, and a little heater to keep her warm in the winter, sounds cozy doesnt it? But I think that she has been sleeping too long and has become a little caught up in the brakes Department.
It has been at least a month since I drove her last given either the weeks on end of Rain here in the east coast, or the blistering heat. I decided to take her out for the day since the weather was absolutely gorgeous. Well since I had not driven her in a while, I decided to push her out of the garage, and boy was that a task..... she rolled but it was like pushing en elephant with a tooth pick.
I got her on the driveway, and like such a good little girl she fired right up..... and all the fluids were clean and perfect. I drove her all over town and the car was tracking perfectly straight..... but there was a slight pull when I hit the brakes..... nothing serious but ever so slight so that if I let off the steering wheel while I braked the car would pull.
When I got home, My usually brilliant right front BWA sport wheel was almost black with brake dust and she was still a little hard to push. So instead of pushing her I drove her back in the garage until I could check it out in more detail. I am honestly not worried about driving her ..... because she stops fine..... and has great pedal pressure.... But I want to check to be sure.
ANY WAY!!!! Here is my question, I have never worked on brakes before, I have always sent that out..... BUT this time I have decided to take a look myself. What do you think is going on with this right front brake..... I assume its some how frozen in a partial depressed position. If this is the case how do I un freeze it? and make it servicable with out taking the whole thing apart? Or do I have to take it apart? ?
Any help or information would be greatly appreciated..
Ciao Ciao Alfisti's
Sincerely.
Martin
