Wheel Offsets.........
I am preparing to race my new '67 GTV and have a questions about the wheels. I presently have two sets of 14x6 of an unknown brand, but they look like EXIP's. Know for the delima. I have a perfectly good set of 205/50zr14 Hoosiers, and a desent set of 205/60's. The 60's are not the problem. The 50's on the other hand rub on the rear fenders just enough to cause me a little concern over the extra wear this will cause. How much of an offset in a new wheel can I get away with to solve this problem, but not create another problem with interferance with the suspension?
I also prefer the looks of the Lite Weight Panasports. Can some tell me what a set of these would set me back? I see them in the IAP catalog, but there must be someone close by that might have them for less.
Thanks

Gifford,
The problem on your car is you have the low rear fenders. To get rid of this you either have to 1. roll your rear fender lip or 2. cut away at the fender and install a fiberglass gta flair, the litle ones. i'll post a pic of it when i get home. by doing either of the two option i have listed, i have been able to get a 14x7 wheel under there with 206/60 rubber. the offest on the 14x7's i use are 17mm.
i am a distributor for panasport. regular 14x7 panasports will run yot $850 for a set and the leightweight are $900 for a set. the wheels are on back order right now but i can mark you down for some if you want them. just lemme know.

I've got 9 of these for the car. They are 14x6 with an offset of (if I've measured correctly) 24mm. The only markings on them are "14x6JJ" and the word "Performance". If any one can tell who makes them, and what they are called, I would like to get three more. That way I can have two complete sets for the slicks, and one set for rain tires. I'd also like to find two of these three new wheels with a 33 to 35mm offset so that I can get my 205/50's inside the rear fenders without them rubbing.
Thanks for any help.

your wheels
You will never find those wheels except at a swap meet or on ebay. Shankle used to sell them a long time ago I think they were made in Australia one set of those were purchased from me by Jay Dettinger(john's late father) We would be pleased to have you come and race with us in the Vintage 2.5 Challenge! For what it's worth, I have 205/50-15's on Panasports on my GTV with no rubbing. They are either 20 or 22mm offset if I remember correctly. I would think that a 14 inch wheel with 205/50's would work with this offset. BTW, my car has not been drastically lowered, just the street performance springs from IAP.

Problem is just about every race group (except AROSC) would not allow 50 series tires. If it were my car, I would go through with the extra effort of making it fit so I can fit a 60 series and run with Vintage 2.5 Challenge and VARA.
Shankle/Ricambi used to sell those wheels and yes they are Australian made. I had a set on one of my street cars and currently have a back up set for my race car. They are known for cracking so I doubt you will want an extra set. I think my set are gonna be used as street rims now.
Panasport's come in any offset, they just take a LOOONG time to get custom ordered ones.
Don't know what else to tell you.

Oops, I meant to say I'm running 205/55-15's on my GTV. Not 205/50.

it really doesn't matter because most vintage clubs dont really like to see 55's either.

Anthony,
I pretty much read the same thing when looking into the rules of some of the different groups. The only reason I want to run them is that they only have one race on them, and they have allot of rubber left. Maybe what I will do then, is use them up at open test days at Willow Springs or Buttonwillow while I get familar with my car, and the put a set of 205/60's on when they are used up. And with the 60's I don't have a clearence problem with the fenders. In the mean time, I'll start saving for a set of Panasports, just to have a third set of wheels.
