New A arm bushes

I just recieved a new set of inner bushes for my A-arms (GT 1300 Junior 1969) and I'm not sure which way around they go.

They also came with a circular foam gasket that is about 5mm thick (about 1/4"). Is this just packaging or is it part of the assembly. I would say it's just packaging but it's fairly substantial.

the bushes have a small clear seal on one side, which is held on with a green wire ring. I think this mounts on the inside of the A-arm to provide a sealing surface.

One side of the bush is well protected by the domed metal cap but the otherside must be prone to dust and moisture. It doesn't seem correct because the domed cap is so substantially engineered to provide an extremely robust seal but the back of the bush is very exposed. Might explain why mine was compeletely stuffed.

There is also a thin washer on the original assembly which i think was intended to form a barrier to external dirt and dust, with the new bush having the clear seal on it I can't see how this washer can fit over the inner shaft of the bush.

My original bushes were so cactus that I can't learn anything from them. A detailed diagram would be a great help. Or an experienced member.

I bought them from Max and Andrew so I'll try asking them but can't do that until I get back to work tommorrow and there will be a day's lag across the time zones.

Any help appreciated

Cheers

that's the stuff Darren

Thanks for that. I have a washer on the inside of mine which i think I'll leave in place but apart from that this looks the business.

Moments like this I really appreciate the BB.

Cheers

Andy.

No Problem. I just happened to recall seeing those pix recently so they was easy to scrounge up

BTW, the torque spec on those #2 nuts is 32-34 ft/lbs ~ 43-46 Nm

Take care when fitting the washer that goes on first, it only goes on one way. Match the chamfered side of the washer to the radius machined in the support arm.

Roger that Blue Flame

I did notice that, mine also had another thin washer as well as this thick chamfered washer. The thin washer was almost a pressfit onto the inner boss of the bush but I think this is what the new spongey disc is supposed to replace.

Cheers
