R&R rear shocks 68 1750 spider?

I know the answer is on the BB somewhere but I can't find it. Can I remove the old shocks without dropping the trailing arms? I see hints of the procedure at various places but I think it must be only for the later spiders and possibly GTV's. I dont seem to have enough room to pull the collapsed shock up through the hole in the trunck--am I missing something?

Hi,

Nope you are not missing anything. That is the way to remove the rear shocks. It does not take very much. Just remove the bottom nut from the trailing arms, remove the 2 nuts holding the cap thing and you can withdraw the whole shock through the 2 access holes in the rear bulkhead.

Try it.
