Repair Shop List

Hi Folks,

Can a list be created for repair shop that can work on Alfas? It can be a great resource for people who are relocating or doing a long distance roadtrip ? The list can be similar to the supplier list.

A list of shops would be an excellent idea. You can start it with Alfa West in Englewood, CO (Denver), (303)789-9378. They specialize in Giulietta/Giulias but can work on any Alfa. -- Carl Goodwin

G’Day All,

How about new forum with a separate thread for each repair shop or parts supplier.

Each thread could be in the form of a poll with options of good , bad or unknown so people can give their thoughts. This would also meet the request for a Good Guys/Bad Guys Forum.

The subject for each thread should be Location/shop name easily recognisable to locals ie: UK – Bath – Jo Bloggs Automotive or USA – NY – Queens – Freds Place with the body of the thread giving street address, phone, fax, email address etc.

What do you think?

Not a bad idea given by Craig, it will kill 2 birds with one stone. Here is my list of known Alfa Shops:

In Connecticut-USA (where I am from):

Expert Auto Service
480 West Main ST Stamford CT 06902
203 348 8844
Comment: Very Good Service

Europa Motors Works
1105 Dixwell Ave,
Hamden, CT 06514
203 782 0883
Comment: I have not used themself, but was recommended by Continental Garage when they closed down.

Alfas Unlimited
89 Greenwoods Road West, Norfolk, CT 06058
(860) 542-5351
Comment: I have not used them myself, but have been recommended to me by other Alfa owners in CT.

North Carolina-USA :

Sports Car Authority
1121 Industrial Drive
Matthews, NC 28105
704 847 7742
Comment: I have only used them for body work on my spider (they did a good job),
they tell me that they specialize in Alfas and Fiats.

Krause & England
8613-C Barefoot Industrial Rd. Raleigh, NC 27617
919 781 1871
Comment: I have not used them, but was recommended for engine work when I moved to N.C.

Repair Shop List

for the New York City area, two more of which I have currently or had in the past extensive personal experiece and highly recommend:

Alfa Import Center
981 Wycoff
Ridgewood (Queens) NY 11385
tel. 718-381-6764
www.alfaimportcenter.com
(Giuseppe LoRe, has been my guy for many years now and is a fellow trackhead)

Eurotech
18 Okner Pky
Livingston, New Jersey 07039
tel. 973-992-2800
(the Colasacco brothers, 2nd generation and you've probably seen Joe Colasacco race at the SCCA runoffs)

Alfa Unlimited -- Keith Goring (see the previous list which mentioned him but did not have experience with him -- I have and he is one of the true alfa gurus)

on a not really related note actgually totally unrelated, for lots of seat time at reasonable prices at Lime Rock, the Glen, Summit Point and Pocono, register and run with PDA (www.pdadrivingschool.com) (sorry I do not know how to insert this as a hyperlink)

From the AROC page in AlfaRisa's post:
"This directory is paid for by the listed service facilities".

I know of several other reputable Alfa service facilities in my area that are not on this list. But if they don't pay up, they're not on the list. I'm sure that this list is only a fraction of the qualified shops in the country. In my humble opinion, the AROC should be doing the research to provide this information as a service to their members. If a shop wants to sponsor something more than a basic ad (hyperlinks, photos, color logos, etc.) the club could charge - sort of like the yellow pages: the more attention-getting, the more you pay.

My current situation has me travelling to another state to look at a Spider. I would like to see a listing of repair facilities in the area where the car is now - I would be happy to pay a shop for a pre-purchase inspection before cutting the big check. As it stands, I will have to do my best to make the decision, and bring the car home before I can have an expert go through the car.

I'd like to see a forum for service broken down by state or region.

How about a thread stickied to the top of each regional forum?
