Location details please

As a 'non American' it would be very helpful if users would turn on this option and make web life even more of an adventure

Is it possible to make this obligatory in the site setup?

Agreed, location and car year and model(s) in your sig really help. Especially if you're asking for help with a problem.

Nothing worse then finding out the deal of the century is in Buttkrackistan and you're in wherever.

I've always tried to get people to add their location and car model ito their signature but some Alfa owners are down right paranoid! YES I can make it manditory at sign-up time to add the info but I think we would loose alot of sign ups if I did that, hence less postings. So basically its keep memberships and postings or have every single user with country info. Although I like the thought of the later I'll just keep it optional for now. If we all try to remind folks to add their info from time to time it would help. Perhaps I could even do a mass mailer reminding folks to add their information via the "UserCP".

When I joined the AlfaBB, the whole point seemed to be that it didn't matter who you were, where you live, or what car(s) you have.

Im convinced that the usefulness of personal information is the exception, not the rule.

Those who have a problem with as specific car learn soon from the posts if somebody else has the same model and encountered the same problem. Those who want to make deals can ask questions as part of the buyer-seller negotiation.

Neither case should force the majority to reveal information if they don't want to.
