Timing Out Issue
Simon, have you "enhanced" the "time out" feature? On several occasions now, while I have been compiling longer, either thoughtful/ or thoughtless, "Replies" - I've been logged off (time out?) and was directed to Refresh and lost my work. Not happy. What's up? Regards, Bruce

This has happened once or twice to me as well. The solution is to draft your message using a word processing program or text editor (MS Word, WordPerfect, etc) offline, and then cut and paste that text into your post on the BB.

It just seems like the timeout setting has been reduced too short if this is the case.
That's one workaround, another is to highlight and copy your post before refreshing or re-logging in. It's especially noticeable if you attach items and have to fiddle with them (find, reduce size, rename) "off-line". The timeout just needs to be reset up agian if that is the problem. Bruce

Simon - one of the issues is that you are not warned that you "are being/have been" timed out. The banner still shows you "Logged In" but your "light" is out (not green). If you are working, reading, composing, or distracted/away, you are "stealth" logged off without knowing. You then have to log off to log back on, loosing what you have worked on. Is this just me or a common problem. Happened again today. I would appreciate a response when you address this.

This is true, but it could be more of a cookie thing, no? I find myself highlighting and copying my long posts before I submit them just in case.

Try the following: After you get the timeout message, then enter your id and password like always. After hitting the enter key, use your browser back arrow to go back, and I think you will find your post. Yes, you will go back through the log on screens and the screen that advised you of the timeout, etc., but you should get back to the screen with your post, and it will have everything it had when you pressed the submit or preview button.
Best regards,
