Also, since they are almost all posting under Simon's moniker, it has the unintended effect of making me ignore all of his posts to sift through a little more quickly.
I think having a separate ebay section may be a good one for BB members to post their own ebay listings. This would distinguish them from the direct "For Sale" items since posting ebay items in this section seems to be a pet peeve of a lot of people on the board. It also makes sense as a forum for someone other than the seller to call attention to an item that they think others BBr's would find interesting. The way it's currently loading up, though, seems to be a matter of too much information making it too much trouble to sort through. I'm not a whiner and I can certainly adapt if this is the way it is to be but I have a feeling I'm not the only one. And let me take this opportunity to express my appreciation for Simon's hard work in making this such a great site. Obviously it requires some experimentation.

Add me to the list of people who doesn't like these new EBay listings.

I completely concur with the sentiments expressed by Bill S, Enrique and the others.
Here is a controversial thought, however. Some well known suppliers on both sides of the Pond have undoubtedly received some fantastic marketing and sales via word of mouth recommendations on the BB, and I would argue that private and voluntary contributions from them to assist in keeping this portal healthy for the future would not only be courteous but a sensible and inexpensive addition to normal advertising costs. Maybe this is happening already and, if so, I'd expect Simon to maintain his discretion.
Thoughts?

Earlier this morning, I emailed Simon directly and he said that the current set up is an interim step.

I am not a fan of everything being dumped on here as I use the new posts function as well, however If after this initial "dump" it will only add new listings every day, this may end up being manageable and useful.

I'm not a fan either way too much to read through.
Can we have a lounge for Ebay listings? that way we can click on it if we want to view all the posts.
Thanks Simon for the great site

Simon, perhaps in the mean time while you get things sorted out if you posted the EBay listings under another user name that was not assigned an admin level it would be easy for users to just add that name to the ignore on their setup.
Just a quick thought.

Ebay ads showing up in "new posts"
I hate the ebay ads showing up when I click "new posts". Keep in mind some of the ebay ads are mine, and I still hate it. I makes the "new posts" feature totally unusable because it results in so many threads showing up.
I think we all know about ebay, and can go there and type in Alfa Romeo.

I've given up trying to follow the BB. Not worth trying to sort out the "new posts".

There is another thread about this. Simon is trying to work some things out regarding the EBay posts so I trust that we all can be a bit patient with him. Take a look at this thread:

Bill, I don't use the new posts function so it doesn't really affect me, but I have suggested an additional auction section in the classified area a long time ago, but it got shot down.

Sean,
There is a new "eBay Alfa Romeo Listings" forum... That is where all these new 300+ threads have been going into... We all welcome having an ebay dedicated section. That's not the issue. The issue is the sheer number of threads that are being created in an automated fashion. This is generating "new threads" at the rate of one for each ebay auction listing. Since most of us click on "New Posts" to see what is going on, this is killing the function, because it is impossible to sift through pages and pages of auction listings to pick out the "real" posts created by BB members. (The "New Posts" function is very nice because it lists only the posts that have been written since your last visit to the BB. Hence, you don't have to figure out what has happened since your last visit. The system will show you everything, and then you can choose which ones to read.)
Best regards,

EBay Listing Forum Confusion
When I saw this early this a.m. I thought Simon suddenly had decided to track things on e-bay for his needs and decided to share them with us. As the day wore on and the posts became overwhelming, I thought, gee, could I have possibly hit the forum tag instead of the quick posts. I do things routinely by placement and color, not always reading the whole title.
Put me in with the rest that have indicated this is not working. I only use the quick posts label or the search label -- I know pretty much which threads I'm subscribed to, active or not.
For now, I'm still using the quick posts but just scrolling for my subscriber mark, anything new I'm ignoring for now....too much trouble to sort through the e-bay postings. It does help that I have e-mail notification so I know how many threads I'm looking for and which ones or what they're called. Thankfully, I had other AROC responses to finish up today as well as some other things so I wasn't quite as annoyed as some have indicated on the thread.

Enrique,
I think I understand it a little better now. I guess this new automatic thing would defeat the purpose of an eBay section as posts would get buried in a matter of hours. Now I'm off to go list some parts I just pulled and put them on eBay

Hey there folks!
Sorry for the slow communication but my 13 year old daughter had an accident today and required some stiching up from a plastic surgon. Shes gonna be OK.
I was going to fix this eBay issue today but obviously got side tracked. As one of the biggest users of the "new posts" feature I also agree that the eBay listings need to be removed from the search results. I will however be leaving them listed in the "eBay listing forum" which will be updated automatically.
Thank you for all the feedback and your patients while I get this resolved.
PS - Don't put me on your ignore list because it doesn't work on Admins! Muahhhhahahahahha!!
