Standard part numbers listing?
As a past auto parts jockey in HS and through College, I know there is a tremendous mark up on parts. If we could share some standard information in a collectable form, there is an opportunity to save some cash.
For instance the front wheel bearings on my Spider (almost all ever made from what I could see from most listings) are 30206, 32303 and the seal is 224100. Rears are 88107 for the bearing and 223035 for the seal. You can take that info to almost any parts house and those numbers will send them almost directly to the shelf. This is particularily true for roller bearings but interchanges are available for most any parts. I haven't been behind a counter with the books in 20 years but I'm sure computerization has magnified the simplicity of interchange lists significantly.
I've read some comments about the quality of non OEM parts on some forums but many things are manufactured by only one or two companies now and simply resold under different branding.
Anyway any ideas on how it could be put together? I was thinking of a parts section with part type model and year in the headline and just using the search engine of the BB?
