Drive-Line/Gearbox-Specific Forum;

Hi Simon et al!

How about a drive-train/drive-line/prop-shaft/clutch-assembly/side-shaft/gearbox-specific forum where we can discuss things such as;

1) Converting Alfas from automatic to manual (I'm starting a 164 LS right now and I noticed others here doing it on Milanos/GTV6s...)

2) Improving the existing transaxle gearbox (Jes and I have gone a long way with the boxes in our 3.7s with lightening, shot-peening etc), but also issues such as the infamous 2nd gear grind, flipping the syncro-rings and so on!

3) Dumping reverse in favour of a 6th gear on TA boxes!!! (Done on South African GTV6 race cars in the past...)

4) Installing Getrag 6 speed BMW M3 and M5 boxes on GTV6 and Milano/75s - couple of conversions done on South African twin turbo cars!

5) Having a company like Collotti build straight-cut gear-sets for existing trannys (In my future...)

6) Reinforcement "cages" around the TA side-shaft casings that tend to "pop-off" under brute force

7) Reinforcement cages around the clutch-housings

8) Clutch conversions such as copper clutches, Double-AP, 4-puc and other conversions currently being done!

9) Lightening for example the rear flywheels and balanced clutch-assemblies such as what we have done

10) Custom-built, lightweight clutch-assemblies (as seen recently on another forum...)

11) Protection cages around the GUIBOS

12) Side-shaft reinforcement and servicing

13) Custom shifter-conversions as done in the past!

14) Carbon-fibre and aluminium drive-shafts - current conversions going on....

15) Converting to M5-style GUIBOS and shafts

16) Torque-tube style transaxle conversions (contemplated many times trying that 928 or Maserati setup!)

17) High-speed balancing resources for the TA prop-shafts (always spinning at engine speed)

18) What else?

19) Trying to get to 20...

20) There ya go!

I 2nd it
when I do the 24V supercharged for my 75 I think I will have to replace the tranny.
just a list of trannys that would fit in the back would be a start. as it seems that most have the shafts comming out the front next to the clutch and not the back like the alfa
and I know I will have all the drivelline problems too
