I could not log in all weekend on my home computer. After typing in my user name and password, the message would say "Welcome DaveC" but the next screen showed I was not logged in. My home computer is running Windows 98 and AOL dialup. No problem with work computer.

Dave

Dave,

You could have a corrupted cookie in your browser. I have seen this happen a few times to other members. What you need to do is completely log out of the site and then re-enter. You can use the link below to make sure you are loged out completely before re-entering you user name and password.

If that doesnt do the trick let me know.

Thanks Simon. I was able to log in at home. I now have to click the "remember me" button all the time on my home computer to log in. No big deal.

Dave

Dave, as Simon pointed out, it does sound as if there is a cookie problem with your PC at home.

Assuming you're using Internet Explorer 6.x (you'll find that information in Help->About Internet Explorer, try the steps below. If you don't run IE 6.x, I suggest you download it at work and burn it on a CD (for installing on your home PC) as the 30+ MB download would clog you dial-up line for many hours. In case you're using IE 5.x, you may want to check if you have similar settings as described for IE 6.x below.

So, using Internet Explorer 6.x, try the following:

1. Open Tools->Internet Options->Privacy and click the "Edit" button in the "Web sites" section. A new window pops up called "Per Site Privacy Actions". Enter "alfabb.com" in the box labeled "Address of Web site"and hit the "Allow" button. Click "OK". This tells Internet Explorer to allow cookies from AlfaBB.

2. Open Tools->Internet Options->Content and click on "AutoComplete..." in the "Personal information" section. I have the check boxes checked for "Web addresses", "user names and passwords on forms" and "Prompt me to save passwords". If your settings are different, Internet Explorer may not remember the password.
