How To area needed
hi im new here but experienced in lots of other bb for cars , and i have to say this is the first time i have found a board with no how to area at all, it is a great source of info in one place which removes alot of search activity and mindless repetive questions. it is just the usuall threads with a lock on what can be modified by readers , posters get to mod the subject matter as they update it. I do see the engine , suspension, ect areas but there is only banter on subjects , pls make a solid How To area.

I agree-- I used to use the maxima.org bb all the time--
a how to area would be wonderful.
I could post a couple of projects completed with pics.

I agree,
A step by step procedure of removing/installing whatever would be a great idea.

It would be realllly worthwhile to have the wealth of info be more organized into how-to projects. I agree.

Rust
What kind of question is that?
Try coca-cola, rust remove gel, and/or wire brush.

Everybody has a wish list of what information they would want. But such information usually does not magically appear by itself. Be prepared that Santa Claus doesn't deliver -- unless you are willing to become Santa Claus yourself, even for just one topic.
It appears the most valuable information has been written and/or compiled by AlfaBB members on a voluntary basis -- typically because they were fed up with searching through fragmented threads, other web sites, and books. It usually ends up in a sticky thread in a forum where the topic is relevant.
So, guys, if you want Howto's: Get off your lazy bums and write one. Play an active role in building the resource your longing for. Compile the information you care about -- then post it as summary, redux, or commentary about other web pages or threads. It's easier than you think -- just follow Richard Bach's paradigm "You teach best what you need to learn most."

A How-To area is a fine idea! There are several threads that can go there as-is to start it off. For example, just off the top of my head... the dashboard recondition using the bed liner spray, and the very detailed thread about replacing dash lights with LEDs. I know there are many more!

If they could add a how too, with sub sections, we could pull all the threads that relate and put them up there

But where do you put it ?
Do these HOW-TOs go into the respective model's forum, into the restoration forum, or do we start another forum ? A lot of HOW-TO procedures form parts of other threads, they are often not presented as a thread starter.
If we do go this route, I suggest that the instructions are not posted as normal threads. Otherwise there will be all sorts of responses and argument as to the accuracy of the process and the HOW-TO will simply become another jumbled thread and we'll be back where we started.
Make 'em like a 'sticky' so they are presented as-is and only amendable by the originator. If someone has a variation on a suggestion, then it should be posted separately and independently.
Just my thoughts anyway.

This would definitely be useful. I'd suggest that the threads be grouped by model series (101, 105/115, 116, etc) There is a ton of this kind of info on the BB that could be moved into a "How To" area. I agree that the threads should be locked.
This brings up a related issue that probably belongs in a separate thread; however, I think that we have grown to the point where the AlfaBB could benefit from more active moderation. Moving, pruning and closing threads, etc. With that maybe we need more mods to share the workload?
