I suppose then that your signature line, "Remember it's all just opinions", means that everyone is entitled to their own opinion as long as it agrees with yours?
I thought not.
One could avoid the drama in the first place if those of one opinion would simply accept and respect those with a differing opinion.

Amen!
bs (comments added in parens because simply saying 'Amen!' resulted in a post that was too short...)

I'll say it again
When tempted to fight fire with fire, remember that the Fire Department usually uses water!

And for big fires, the Forestry Department uses shovels to bury it, and sets backfires to stop it in its tracks.

Yes Jim good point.
I'm just worried at the future direction of this site (and the cars that are being sacrificed). I'll shut up now .

I don't think the thread should be deleted. Maybe the author's purpose on this site is to serve as a warning to others?
I'm getting the feeling I am one of "the haters" from Van's thread. Whatever. I tried, as did at least one other, to make him realise his cage design was dangerous. I even defended his right to do to his car as he pleases. I felt laughed at. He is adamant his cage is safe, we don't know what gauge of steel he used, see. Besides, it's not a track car so safety is not really an issue. Meanwhile, the pat-on-the-back batalion is busy. -Good job son, shame some don't appreciate workmanship.
While I do think it's "wrong" what he is doing to his former Alfa Romeo, I don't care about Van or his car. What worries me is he is going to hurt someone innocent, the girl he takes for a ride, the friend who just can't resist that offer for a test drive. Or that kid who doesn't know what he's buying. Wasn't that feat something you were bragging about Van?

Someone should start a new thread in the Engine Conversions area to discus the pros and cons of engine conversions and not fill Van's build thread with opinion.
I think I will.

I am the biggest originality nerd but this thread makes me want to drop a Chrysler V8 midship in the Junior Z and call it a Montejunior Hai. Your taste, your money, your car.
Guys and Gals, time to move on to more important things and stop this thread.

Hi
I have read parts of the thread and it seems for to suffer from the bloggers discease (or pandemic) - the almost impossible task to communicate intelligently on the internet. It seems to me that the guy probably tries to be ironic, humoristic and deliberetely trying to piss off some of the purists - (and that he should - how interresting is forum like this showing off hundreds of thousands of original car-threads anyways)...but he probably fails in his attempt.
A couple of years back I was being pissed off by a friends fascination of the Honda S2000 swap in a Bertone. Last winter I bought my Alfa raceengine from a guy outside of Stockholm building a car just like that. He was talented and really doing his project "well"...AND it was for a purpose - a new racing series for "retro"-cars in sweeden with engine/drivetrain-options free. I still think it is/was a total rape, but have accepted and have started to like the "uncommon" initiative - AND he probably outruns all Alfa racecars (btw - the Honda engines ARE really good ). If the purpose is somewhat else it should off course be allowed unless it is a unique cultural heritage beeing destroyed- like a 250 GTO or similar.
I have learned the last couple of years to be more tolerant even though tastelessness never is any good unless it is on the surreal side But who descides?
Best regards
Stian S, Oslo
