No ad subscription

Hi guys
I just became a Gold Member of the AlfaBB. I did it because I believe in the success of the BB and it provides a great service to all of us. And I have enjoyed it for free for a long time.
The financial success of the board should rely on advertising, not on subscriptions. But of course having both will help. What I don't get is this:
One of the benefits of being a subscribed member is "no ads on the right column". The higher the number of members, the lower the exposure of advertisers. If I am paying for an ad, I would like as much exposure as possible for my dollar. Besides, no ads on the right column really do not bother me at all. They are not the "Push" type, they are not pop-ups, and they are on the side. Having a wide screen monitor makes them very unobstrussive.
Please do not think I am asking for more ads. I just want the forum to succeed.
Have a great evening y'all.
Jorge

Jorge,
The Alfa BB has 28995 members... Of those, 28681 see all the ads, because they do not subscribe to the BB... So advertisers are reaching 28681 people, out of 28995. There are only 314 gold or platinum subscribers...

Best regards,

How many are 'active' members?

That is sad.

Eric,
I don't know how many of the 28995 members are active, but Simon has reported that he sees thousands of hits from different users every day... So there is quite a bit of activity from many, even if they do not post...

Best regards,

Best regards,
Enrique,

I don't know how far off your numbers are as far as how many bbers advertisers actually reach, but as Simon has acknowledged on previous threads, one of his problems is those with enough computer expertise that can configure their browsers and/or computers so that the ads are not visible without buying a subscription. So some allowance would have to made for whatever that percentage is.

I would guess, by looking at the names of the subscribers, that they most likely would not find the ads helpful, they've already sourced what they need or know enough about Alfa and its parts networks, enhancement products, etc. that they will continue to use their own known sources and sources provided by other Alfisti's experience with them.

I paid for a "subscription" because I found great value in participating with the BB. I didn't realize that I would also receive the extra added benefit of "no pop-up ads". That alone was worth the $$$!!!

I think if the administrators "advertised" the benefits of subscriptions better, many more would pay for membership/subscriptions. Give yourselves more than just a tab to advertise your own subscriptions and the benefits therein!

Live long and prosper AlfaBB!

I joined up with a subscription just because this is such a good place.

Simon: Congratulations on such a great site, and thanks a lot. I hope I can help.
