Exclamation Help Needed!!

A fellow Alfista is in need of a repair shop that can diagnose and repair a possible L-jet problem on an 87 Spider. The car is located in the Quad-City area in Iowa. Can anyone recommend a shop in the area?

Here's the skinny.
The car was brought into a shop for an oil change and hasn't run since. This was a month ago. I've offered to the owner various things to have the shop check, sent wiring diagrams and even spoke with the shop. The shop however has reluctantly thrown their hands in the air and given up. The symptom is a crank, no start.

Please either post here or send me a private message.

Thank you all!!!

So that's how the story ended up huh? Most non-triumphant.

Hope someone is around there to help out.

Nothing listed in the AROC magazine for Iowa.

If the owner is willing to travel to IL, there are three listings near Chicago.

Autosprint, LTD
Chicago, IL

Besic Motorsports
Glen Ellyn, IL

Italia Automobili
Northbrook, IL

P.S. I just noticed something. Is there something new in your signature? Maybe it was there all along and I just didn't see it...?

Hi Papajam,

The ENGINE MAINTENANCE MANUAL (L-Jetronic Bosch Injection System--Bosch Digital Electronic Ignition System) for Spider 2.0 Injection 1985 Model year (50 State version)
Alfa Romeo Publication N. PA 365100000000 is a 50 page AR supplement that should allow for the complete troubleshooting. I sent you a photocopy for the Archives some time back. I have it on CD and can send it. I am also willing to "lend" for the cost of shipping either or both S3 ECU's.

Glad to see you in S3 country!

Best regards, Elio

What could an oil change place screw up that would knock out the engine management system from underneath the car? Possibly the flywheel sensors? Seems that something simple is amiss. Was the owner present during the oil change? HE would know if they did something really egregious such as attempting to jump start the car with reversed polarity, etc.

Make sure your battery is not marginal and is putting out enough!

"No crank, no start" ......the no crank should be a straight forward traceable fault.

I'm assuming that it now cranks, but won't start.....

Will it push start?

Ignition switch could be the main culprit....
