Just Installed new S4 Seat Covers
Just installed new Skay & Alcantara seat covers from Alfaholics that I purchased last summer when I was over in the UK. Only took me a year to get around to doing it, but pictures are attached showing the results. I think the seat covers are first rate in quality and craftmanship. It was lots of work but fairly straight forward installing the covers. I re-used the existing seat foam and added some "extra" to fill things out properly. I'm thinking of scotch guarding the suede inserts to see if that will help keep them looking new longer and provide protection.
While I had the seats out I also refurbished the door panels and quarter panels that were severely faded like the old seat covers. I used SEM's Palomino Interior Vinyl Paint which, in my opinion, is about as perfect color match to the original as one can get. The product is also easy to work with and very forgiving. I also used it on the parking brake boot..we'll see how it holds up. You can be the judge on final outcome. I'm extremely impressed and pleased! I'm thinking about trying the SEM's black to do the door arm rests and speaker covers....haven't decided yet. See how the door panel application holds up first.
I also attached a picture of the car that gives a glimpse of the very faded old seats.
I'm new to all this Spider work, but am learning lots from this forum and all the threads posted from everyone's previous experiences/questions. An endless source of information!

Did you use the SEM to respray the suede sections of the door panels? I ask because I would like to convert my black/tan door panels to all black, and am hoping the SEM will work on that fake suede material. Thanks in advance.

my door panels are all vinyl. no suede insert sections. however, the SEM product does say you may use it on carpet... "Renew or change the color of vinyl, leather, and plastic automotive interior and vinyl tops. Produces a coating that is flexible enough for seats. Abrasion and UV resistant enough for convertible and vinyl tops. Can even be used on carpets to freshen up the existing shade."
Might want to experiment with some suede scraps you may be able to get a hold of before trying it on your door panels....my 2 cents worth....

Is it possible to use the SEM on the brake boot without removing it (see how lazy I am)?

Great job, looks like it just rolled out of the showroom! My jaw dropped when I saw the Newport bridge in the background. I work in Newport and drove the Spider in today; I bought it from a naval officer in Newport whose wife called it the "Awful Romeo."

I would be very interested to see the results of the black SEM paint you plan to do. Please post up when you get it done.

I say yes! That is what I did. I did remove the entire center console first. When I saw all the rivets holding the boot to console, I just masked the the console and went from there. Worked great for me in my opinion

Very cool. I just left Newport in March. Was at the Naval War College. I think my suspension survived the Newport roads (unbelievably horrible). Great place to drive the Spider in the summer. I just garaged it for the winter.
