oil gauge removal- another problem!

There is no glove compartment! The car is a converted LHD into a RHD. Is there any other way of getting round the back?

You can take the center console apart and get at things from directly underneath. (unless there's a stereo, in which case that'll have to be popped out too)

It's not so bad.

Two screws down on the front by the P-brake, two screws up on the sides just under the dash and the center section will come loose.

There's prolly just enough slack in the harness to allow you to kinda turn the panel out of the way and work, or, if you pop a side panel loose from the little latch thing in the floor (center ties the tops, the bottoms have a groove they clip into to keep them from flopping) and gain a bit more room that way.

Really, the console isn't that big a deal. Just keep track of any connections and/or switches you might decide to remove (or that come off for you without help...)

You prolly won't even need to remove the shift knob.
